Tree removal is one of those jobs that looks straightforward until it isn’t. A dead tree in an open yard with clear access is a few hours of work. A live oak leaning toward a roofline in a yard backed up to a fence, with a utility line on one side and a neighbor’s car on the other, is a full-day precision job. THE REMOVAL PROCESS
Before any cutting begins, we walk the site. We identify where the tree will come down, what’s in the fall zone, what equipment access looks like, and whether the job requires rigging, a bucket truck, or simply a ground crew with chainsaws.
On most removals near structures, we work from the top down. A climber removes the canopy in sections, with limbs rigged and lowered in a controlled path rather than dropped. This is slower than felling, but it’s how you remove a tree over a fence without destroying the fence.
Once the canopy is down, the trunk comes in sections from the top, or in a single fell if the site allows for a clear fall path. The direction of the fell, the notch cut placement, and the back cut depth are all calculated based on the tree’s lean, weight distribution, and what’s in the path.
Limbs go through the chipper. Logs and trunk sections are cut to manageable lengths and removed. If you want firewood lengths left behind, let us know before we start.
Stump grinding is included with every full tree removal. We grind to 6 to 8 inches below grade — enough depth that the area can be replanted, sodded, or built over.
Oklahoma Tree Specifics
Dense, heavy wood. Common in older Tulsa neighborhoods. Require calculated rigging when near structures.
