Stump Grinding in Tulsa, OK
Below Grade, Same Day

Stump grinding is included free with every tree removal All Pro performs. If you have an existing stump from a previous removal, a tree that fell on its own, or a stump left behind by another company, we offer standalone grinding as well.

We grind to 6 to 8 inches below grade on standard residential jobs — deep enough that you can replant, lay sod, pour concrete, or build over the area.

A root ball is not a stump. If a tree uproots due to a storm, emergency situation, or act of nature, the root ball is handled separately and is not included as free stump grinding. Root balls resulting from storm damage are quoted on their own.

THE PROCESS

How Stump Grinding Works

One clarification: stump grinding does not remove every root in the ground. The major surface roots are addressed, but deeper and lateral roots remain and decompose over time. For most residential situations this is not a problem.

Grindability clarification

Not every stump can be ground. Underground utilities, fiber optic lines, gas lines, water lines, access limitations, and similar site conditions can make grinding unsafe or impossible in certain spots. We assess this during the site visit and tell you what’s possible before any work begins.

FAQ

Stump Grinding FAQ

Standard residential grinding goes 6 to 8 inches below grade. If you need deeper grinding — for a concrete pour, for example — let us know and we’ll quote the additional depth.

Grinding removes the stump and major surface roots. Some species — particularly Bradford pear, silver maple, and mimosa — can produce root shoots from remaining lateral roots even after grinding.

The chips remain in the hole by default and are raked level. If you’d like them removed, that’s an additional haul step — ask and we’ll include it in the quote.

This varies by situation. We will assess during the site visit whether grinding is appropriate and accessible on a case-by-case basis.

When underground utilities may be present, a utility locate is required before grinding. All Pro will coordinate the 811 (Oklahoma One Call) locate when necessary, so the work area is cleared before we begin.
